“It’s the most fun I’ve had with any textile,” said Ms. Barnes.
Megan Novak, an artist, crocheting a giant square on Ms. Barnes’s roof. She’s using a fat dowel stick and her hands as a crochet hook. Her yarn is lengths of unspun, fluffy merino wool. Ms. Novak wears a white cotton organdy apron to keep the fibers from sticking to her. Without it, she said, “it’s a lint fest.”
